CARE Design System

As the lead designer for Walgreens’ CARE Design System, I ensure design consistency through effective governance and collaboration with our UX team. I establish key components and standards for our team and partners to maintain uniformity across the digital ecosystem.

Walgreens struggled with establishing a centralized system for design documentation. Many product teams operated within their own silos, creating vulnerabilities in our workflow, especially as engineering teams duplicated and shared these documents across projects. Updating a component often required tracking down every instance to ensure consistency and accuracy—a process that usually led to more fragmentation as time went on.

I was assigned to modernize our design process by transitioning to Sketch App, where I built a component library for better collaboration with designers and product teams. Eventually, we transitioned to Figma, which enhanced our process and helped establish a strong governance model for our component library, resulting in our first solid design system, CARE DS.

I also manage the creation of icons used in various print and digital applications, ensuring consistency and clarity in our visual communications.
